Paper Charms

How many times swan, we got cold
You uncorked your wine
How far we drove drunk
By the power of paper charms
Light drones and cartoons
Sunday veils and red balloons

How far we seem to fly
Caught on life's sugar spoon
Pain moves the birds to fly
Send them feathered sticky kites
Through the night

Swinging so high and living
Thinking to slide down a brook river
But Gretchen just took cardboard seats
The problems weren't that bad

Across the drums metal sounds
Soon we lost our broken wings
Knew the thirst, knew the pain
Learned to walk
To man, try to stand
Compose our best songs
I won't choose, transform us
Let them fail all to reduce

Learn to bite

Every morning
Our poems will turn with care
