Gold

There were times when I failed
And when I browned your gold
I who saw the deep
I'm back to clear the old
What I saw and how I lied
The flesh conceals it all
I've send all the birds home

Time will surely bring
Failures in so many things
And many seem to be wise
Until they start to speak

There were times when I prevailed
And when I drowned in gold
I who avoids the deep
Have yet become old?
