Death Manifesting

I take a deep breath
Fill my lungs with what's left
All smoke and sickness
A peaceful, bleakness

I take my first step
Through the ruins of whats left
All sadness and despair
Memories that still adhere

And I look into the sun
A black hole and a smoking gun
Whatever remains
Dead and bloodstained

Though whatever occurred
I'm sure it was just
Those words they believed in
'Everything happens for a reason'

On this poisoned wind
I recognise the voices of the lost
And its all for nothing
And on the barren earth
Lie tokens of virtue
Symbols of progression
And what good did it do?
And I almost remember
All the talk and the fervour
Of our great future
And we really bought it
Well, here we are
Between a broken earth and dead star
I stand on my grave
And it was all for nothing

As I sit and wonder
And I try to conure
A different conclusion
To our great delusion
But the more that I listen
Weak and pathetic
I see that we're destined
Death manifesting
