Fast Wears the Night

As darkness fills the western sky
And sleep, the twin of death, is nigh
What soothes the soul, at set of sun?
A pleasant thought, of duty done

When i will weave these words
In Holier light i yearn
But Only dark is here

Must the past-ral, night slumbers be
The shepherds by the eastern tree
Broken & brief, with dreams that tell
Of ravaged flock, and poisoned well
