Flood

The murmur of the surge
Hums within the walls
A flood of thoughts
Flowing to the stream

Water starts to seep
Through the crack of the door
The room gets wider and wider
With every wave that enters

Great nocturnal lake rising before her eyes
Walls are gone she swims she dives she fights
To reach the shore

Water swells and heaves
In the heart of the storm

"The source lies in the jaws
Of a wounded animal
And as long as it's not healed
The river shall not cease"
Sings a mermaid
That from the depths has emerged

So she dives her head in cold waters once more
And swims on till she feels she's flying
The sound of a moan comes
Vibrating from the depths to her chest
