Sacred Cargo

A cruel and relentless fate
Is handed down to me
The wolves are closing in
And a rope hangs from the tree
A glance of loneliness
Is a very solemn gift
I bare a punishing weight
As my soul becomes adrift

Staring through this ancient light
My heart resting in my hands
I see now what is coming

Astonished at what I see
They are becoming my enemy
The temples now in ruin
It is mankind that is losing
Destruction comes from within
Now we're all suffering

Anger will punish itself
A painful price to pay
Can love survive a growing distance
Or simply fade away?

The Earth that waits to receive us
Is calm amid a terrible storm
And the gates we hope will receive us
Watch our souls completely reform
Is it a sacred cargo I bare?
Or a curse from the unholy witch king

Falling through the atmosphere
My faith is failing me now
In the company of fear
I will survive this, somehow

An ox pulls away my mothers ghost
Through a pathless wood
All the shattered fragments
I hold together
In a motion of faith
The torn fields of my homeland
Lay cold and still
