We come here once a year with the fading of the light
This is our Gallipoli at least we got the beach right
As we make our way across the sand
The rain left dents like exploded shells
I looked into your eyes and I almost touched your hair
But instead you left me standing there
And a stop to catch my breath is just a pause for you to reload
If I've got this right the light house should be behind you
The light framed the face I never could quite touch
As you turned away you mowed me down
And here comes that feeling
You leave me here to bleed out on the sand
And she said

"Hold out your hand, pull me under
Hold me there, until it's over"
We repeat these steps like they're the only choice to make
The waves inhale and crash but we are the ones that break
You and that fucking war you are both one and the same
You both ruined
A perfectly good beach
