The Vale Of Illusions

Malicious Spirit!
Crawling Death!
Conjurer of many Faces!

So
I followed him down through this Vale of Illusion
Where only whispers and promises dwell
Forgive thy Son, O' Father in Heaven
I've been lead astray whilst under his spell

Oh how wrong I've been all along
My facade
Of righteousness fed
The gaping maw of Hell

He said
Stained crimson blade in hand
Grind their bones and desecrate and rake
And reap and rape
Until thy work is truly done

And I followed him down, through this Vale of Illusion

Among maggots I lay
A blanket of worms for warmth

And though none dared assemble before me
Tongue honed sharp through riches I claimed
I declared the Kingdom of Heaven
But all that remains is merely a mouthful of Dust

O Beguiling Phantom
How sly thou art
I have been bested
I beg reprieve
From this
Unending
Night
