Hey, guys this is JB from august burns red
Today we're going to be talking to about
Our new record 'Found in Far Away Places'
And breaking down each song a little bit
I'm here with jake
How you doing, jake?
Good
My name is Jake Luhrs
I'm the lead vocalist of august burns red
Nice
My name is Matt Greiner, and I play drums
And my name is Brent Rambler, and I play guitar
Cool
Dustin will be joining us a little bit later
Okay
The first song on the album is called the wake
And it is one of the most aggressive tracks on the record
Is the first song that we released to people to listen to
And, Brent, you were at the lyrics of the week
Can you tell me a little bit about that song?
Lyrics of the week are just about the general
What seems to be an apathy towards
The environment and maybe the world we live in as a whole
And it's about preserving what we have now so that the world
That we grew up living in and enjoying can be the same
For our children and their children's children
Great. Okay
And Matt, you have some really fast kick work
In general, over the top technical drumming on the way
Can you tell me a little bit about
The recording process of that and how you as a drummer
Stay up to snuff on a difficult track like that?
The day that I track this song at the studio
I was so frustrated, I got home, and I
wanted to quit playing drums
Because it showed me where I laughed and why I wasn't perfect
And I don't like not being perfect
I like to be able to do, things that I set out to do
So it was a challenge, and it still is
Preparing for the tour
I'm having to put a lot more work and effort into
Making sure I can play everything accurately
I'm my own worst critic
And because I'm not able to play this song the way it is on the CD
It's frustrating
But I think a lot of the reason I played drums
Is because I like the challenge
And so this song is definitely a challenge
And if I were to to pick one song on the record
On some "Found in Far Away Places" that is difficult for me personally
My style of drumming it would definitely be the wake
Right on. Yes
It's definitely a tough song on
Percussive side of things
