MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Jim and Hilda Bloggs are a sweet, elderly couple living a quiet life in rural England. When a radio broadcast announces that a nuclear war is imminent, they trust their government completely. Following the instructions in an official "Protect and Survive" pamphlet, they build a makeshift shelter in their living room and wait for the blast.
They survive the initial explosion, but they are completely unprepared for what comes next. As the days pass, Jim and Hilda try to maintain their normal routine—making tea and discussing the news—while slowly succumbing to the invisible, deadly effects of radiation poisoning.
WHY WATCH? Written by Raymond Briggs (creator of The Snowman), this film uses a unique mix of hand-drawn animation and stop-motion backgrounds to tell a devastating story. It features a legendary soundtrack by Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) and a title song by David Bowie. If you are a fan of Grave of the Fireflies or the Fallout games, this is an essential watch.
