Description:
Church bells herald the birth, marriage, and death of Jean Francois Nocot. France’s “Little Sparrow” was accompanied by The Companions of Song on this French language version of the tune which we later got to know as The Jimmy Brown Song. Les Compagnons returned with a popular early-1950s English-language version https://youtu.be/r3WAAKIDn7c and it was The Browns’ recording of “The Three Bells” that topped the charts in 1959: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEl-a4XZSHM
The original 78rpm single was issued on (French) Columbia DFX-242 - Les Trois Cloches (Jean Villard) by Edith Piaf & Les Compagnons de la Chanson, arranged by Marc Herrand, recorded June 25, 1946 .
