Description:
My name is Laura Gallagher and I'm a professional 3d artist. I travelled to Florence, Italy to study the art of Michelangelo for one month and this is what I have learned. As Michelangelo got older he had a tendency to leave his work more and more in an unfinished, or 'non finito', state. This video, the first of two, is a deep dive into his sculpting techniques and his thought process.
We analyse the following sculptures:
- Giorno (Day), Michelangelo, Sagrestia Nuova.
- Notte (Night), Michelangelo, Sagrestia Nuova.
- Crepuscolo (Dusk), Michelangelo, Sagrestia Nuova.
- Lorenzo de' Medici, Sagrestia Nuova.
- Giuliano de' Medici, Michelangelo, Sagrestia Nuova.
- Medici Madonna, Michelangelo.
- Trophies of Arms, Silvio Cosini, Medici Chapel
- David, Michelangelo, Galleria Dell'Accademia
- Prisoners, Michelangelo, Galleria Dell'Accademia
- Il Giorno (terracotta), Niccolò Pericoli, Bargello
