Description:
King Arthur is supposed to return when Britain needs him most, but Once & Future asks a much darker question: what if Arthur came back wrong?
In this video, we break down Kieron Gillen, Dan Mora, Tamra Bonvillain, and Ed Dukeshire’s Once & Future from BOOM! Studios, a horror-fantasy comic where Arthurian legend, Beowulf, the Green Knight, Merlin, Galahad, Lancelot, Medusa, dragons, fairies, Robin Hood, Shakespeare, and British mythology all collide. What begins as a story about an undead King Arthur quickly becomes something much bigger: a comic about myth, identity, family, nationalism, and the terrifying power of old stories when they refuse to stay buried.
Once & Future is not just “King Arthur but scary.” It is a fast, funny, violent, and clever comic about what happens when legends become weapons, when people are swallowed by the roles stories force onto them, and when the past comes back carrying every wound we tried to forget.
This is Once & Future: When Legends Become Horror.
On Comic Page Turners, I look at comics, graphic novels, and other stories through the lens of character, theme, art, and why they still matter.
