Pandit Arnab Chakrabarty, one of the world’s leading sarod virtuosos, plays an exquisite exploration of Raga Miyan Ki Malhar, accompanied by the phenomenal percussionist Ustad Sukhwinder Singh (‘Pinky’) on tabla. This performance took place at the inaugural KISMAT double header concert on October 6th, 2024 at Paradise Theatre in Toronto, concluding a weekend of soulful Indian Classical music at the inaugural Moksha Festival.

Arnab learned this rare piece from his guru, Ustad Irfan Muhammad Khan, ensuring its authenticity and legacy.

About the Artists:

Arnab Chakrabarty (b. 1980, Bombay, India) has dedicated over 35 years to mastering the sarod, studying with luminaries such as Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta, Dr. Kalyan Mukherjea, and most recently, Ustad Irfan Muhammad Khan.

Sukhwinder Singh (‘Pinky’), known for his deep, resonant tabla and jori, began his journey in Punjab, immersed in Sikh devotional music. Spotted as a prodigy, he became a disciple of maestro Baba Nihal Singh at age five, after which he honed his craft under the guidance of the legendary Pandit Kishan Maharaj of the Benares gharana.
