Welcome back everybody my name is Tucker and.... well it finally happened. Jimmy Butler was finally traded from the Minnesota Timberwolves. It seems like we have been waiting on this forever, ever since Butler’s weirdly timed trade request right before the start of training camp, and I have covered this situation more consistently than anything else on my channel over the past few months, first about how Minnesota should react to the trade demand, then how they kinda screwed themselves over with the lack of agreement throughout the organization on how to proceed from there, and lastly I covered the Houston Rocket’s crazy offer of four first round picks and matching salaries in exchange for Butler... and through all of that the most notable thing that I actually got right in this situation was this.
So that is something at least, but I can fully admit that I did not anticipate Jimmy Butler being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. I mean on paper it made sense, they have been chasing a 3rd star to go along with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons for over a year now, but I was mostly caught off guard because I hadn’t seen any reports connecting the two sides in trade talks recently and certainly not about anything imminent. But now that he has been traded, everybody has their take on it obviously but primarily I want to talk about where this leaves the Sixers moving forward... specifically, how this effects their ability to land another big time player in free agency this summer.
