What is Crescendo? And Why YOUR FANS Want It So Much

Uploaded by Smart Rapper In this video I tell you what crescendo is and how to use it in your songs to pull a listener in so they enjoy your songs more. It's simple but has HUGE effect. Every popular song uses it and you probably didn't even realize it.

Allow me define crescendo. It is a gradual increase in loudness in a piece of music. It is also used in non musical contexts to describe any situation in which volume is increasing. Such as when your friend is talking too much in your car and you make the song playing crescendo. ;)

Crescendos help your song have more energy and subconsciously keep the listeners attention because as the song goes on, more seems to be happening to keep you entertained.

Very similar to when you watch a movie, it starts out a bit slow and then builds and builds and builds and BAM Twist ending.

This is why a lot of popular songs start simple and then EXPLODE in loudness and then go back down and REBUILD in loudness and then have a Bridge that is still loud but not as loud as the chorus and then EXPLODES in the final chorus which now has the most noise, the most instrumentation and the most stacked vocals.

I know a lot of people aren't even aware of what this was so I wanted you guys and girls to all be aware of it so you can start using it on a regular basis.

You can even use a basic amount of crescendo to make a chorus or even a verse pop in energy to grab the listeners attention.
A great example of a song of mine is I Do This Full Time.

Look at how the beat starts laid back and then when I come in I keep my voice at the start of the Verse really mellow and not too loud and then BAM a really loud vocal for the rest of the verse to match the instrumentation to pull the listener in

Then you'll notice I actually do the SAME THING in the chorus when it drops from the end of the verse to the chorus then rebuilds it's crescendo. This has a great effect to keep the listener entertained.

Also notice how that hook got louder and louder.
This is a great Gym song btw lol It's on my Spotify and soundcloud. Link in description!
