Layers of organic materials in the garden feed the earthworms, beneficial fungi and micro organisms that, in turn, create wonderfully rich and healthy soil for your plants. I never harvest anything without having a plan for feeding future crops. And, just like Grandmother Nature, I am careful not to till, dig, step upon, or disturb the soil in any way.
For those who are curious, the Jubilee Bush watermelons shown in the opening shot of this video weighed between 2.2 and 7.5 lbs.
