Samsung Galaxy S26 on the way: this is the expected launch date
After rumors surfaced that the launch of the Galaxy S26 had been delayed, a possible launch date has emerged. Mark your calendars, it's going to be exciting!
According to a recent rumor, Samsung will hold a Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco on February 25. The Galaxy S26 Series is expected to be released at the event, although it is unclear exactly what the series will consist of. Earlier rumors claimed that the S26 would be replaced by the S26 Pro, but now, there are just as many rumors contradicting that claim.
The arrival of the S26+ is also far from certain. For example, the earlier consensus was that the model would be replaced by the Edge, but disappointing sales figures reportedly threw a wrench in the plan. The only model we are fairly certain is coming is the S26 Ultra. However, that model has its own uncertainties.
Previous Galaxy Unpacked events
Looking at the table below, one might think that Samsung has never announced a Galaxy S phone this late before. However, before the S20 a new S Serie was often announced during Mobile World Congress which usually takes place in late February or early March. For example, we had to wait for March for the S8.
| Announcement | Location | |
|---|---|---|
| S26 series | February 25, 2026* | San Francisco |
| S25-series | 22 January 2025 | San Francisco |
| S24 series | 17 February 2024 | San Jose |
| S23-series | February 1, 2023 | San Francisco |
| S22 series | February 9, 2022 | Online |
| S21 series | January 14, 2021 | Online |
| S20 series | February 11, 2020 | San Francisco |
Samsung is relatively late with its Galaxy S26 series, and the reason why remains a mystery for now. What is clear, however, is that Samsung is betting heavily on AI with the Galaxy S26 series. The company has done so with previous models, but next year, Samsung is taking it a step further. The S26 is said to be an AI phone, though it's unclear what that will entail.
It's likely that Galaxy AI will receive new features, but we haven't seen which ones yet. You will be the first to read about it here as soon as we have more information.
