Kansas City Chiefs @ Denver Broncos preview
In the absence of Patrick Surtain II and JK Dobbins, the Denver Broncos (8-2) face a tough-looking test against the Kansas City Chiefs (5-4) at the Empower Field in the NFL on Sunday.
Inspired by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs were on a three-game winning run before their 28-21 defeat at the Buffalo Bills on November 2, while the AFC West-leading Broncos are on a run of seven wins following their 10-7 home victory over the Las Vegas Raiders five days later.
“We’re rested, coming off a bye,” said Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill. “It’s not the start we wanted. Denver are a good football team.
“We’re going to their place, so there’s just urgency. There’s a togetherness, stick-together message that the coach [Andy Reid] has been giving us.
“We owe them one. They kicked our tail last time we were out there [a 24-9 win in 2023] They know us well, we know them well. It will be a good fight.”
Outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper says the Broncos “know the challenge”. “We know what we’re up against,” Cooper added.
“We know how [good] this team is, the success they had, the players they have, from Patrick and all the way down.
“They have a great team over there, and it goes through them. We have to make sure we’re on our A game.”
