Sean Dyche hails ‘growing mentality’ of Nottingham Forest players after claiming first league win as manager

Sean Dyche praised what he called the “growing mentality” of his Nottingham Forest players after they came from behind to beat Leeds United to clinch a first win for the new manager and their first Premier League victory since the opening day.
Ibrahim Sangare, Morgan Gibbs-White and an Elliot Anderson penalty secured all three points in a 3-1 victory at the City Ground after Lukas Nmecha had broken the deadlock for Leeds.
Forest have endured a torrid time so far this campaign after finishing seventh last term. But, more than two months and three managers later, they will be hopeful of heading in the right direction with a first win since a 3-1 victory over Brentford back in August that lifts Dyche’s team to within a point of escaping the bottom three.
“It’s a sign of the mentality changing,” Dyche told Sky Sports.
“We’ve come on a run of one loss in five [matches] now. [They are] different competitions, granted, and we should have won the other night [against Sturm Graz in the Europa League]. But it’s about getting that winning feeling back.”
“It means a lot to everyone here. It was an awkward game for many reasons. We had to get back in touch, of course. But we’re asking a lot of these players currently. We’ve had to use the squad and everyone has put a shift in.”
Dyche tapped his temple when talking about how he thinks his side have made positive strides since the 54-year-old came through the door, and hopes they can continue in that vein.
“Down against Man Utd – come back. Down again today – come back. It’s a growing mentality,” Dyche said.
“So we’ve got the make sense of that, work with the players and continue that growth.
Next up for Forest after the international break is a trip to reigning champions Liverpool on Saturday 22 November.
