Blues Torch came together almost by accident, when three of New England's most electrifying young blues guitarists, Ryan Newman, Matt Swanton, and Brad Dubay, turned an unplanned rehearsal jam into a full band. Newman, who sat in with John Mayall at age eleven and later won the New England Music Hall of Fame's inaugural Best New Artist award, has built a reputation across Southern New England and New York as the guitarist they call the Continental Kid. The Boston Blues Society tapped Matt Swanton's band to represent Massachusetts at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2023, earning praise from Blues Blast Magazine and BroadwayWorld along the way. Dubay brings a sound pulled straight from the late 60s and early 70s blues rock era, drawing on the Allman Brothers Band and Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac.
The Fallout Shelter is an all ages 100-seat performance venue and state-of-the-art broadcast and recording studio, offering one of the most unique live music experiences in New England. Located in Norwood, MA, just 15 miles from Boston, The Fallout Shelter is run under the auspices of the Grass Roots Cultural and Performing Arts Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, promoting and advocating for traditional American Roots music.
